PEOPLE FROM CALGARY
PEOPLE FROM CALGARY (2012)
Created Eric and Mia, People from Calgary was a series of nine postcards that documented everyday citizens from our city. The postcards were a unique souvenir of Calgary. As a project in art and social engagement, Mia and I would invite people departing from the Calgary International Airport to send a free last minute postcard to anybody, anywhere in the world. Participants would dictate a message to us and we would type a message onto the postcard using a typewriter. We would stamp the postcard and drop it in the mail.
Postcards were also made available throughout the Airport by re-purposing empty information displays.
This project was created while in residence at the Calgary International Airport.
