WORKSHOP: MAPPING CO-HABITATION IN SUNNYSIDE AND HILLHURST

  • 1111 Memorial Drive Northwest Calgary, AB, T2N 3E4 Canada

Mapping Co-habitation in Sunnyside and Hillhurst

How do we make and share space with our non-human neighbours? Walk, find and record instances of habitecture in Hillhurst/Sunnyside Sunday September 18, 11am – 2pm.

Join us as we set out to map architecture and infrastructure that affects animals and insects in the city. We will look for real and imagined spaces where non-human species are integrated into our communities or discouraged from being our neighbours. Beehives, birdhouses, breaches in buildings, open dumpsters, powerlines, piles of sticks, and stacked cinderblocks all create opportunities for cohabitation. Pigeon spikes, plastic owls, and automated sprinklers try to keep animals away. Come and discover Sunnyside and Hillhurst as afternoon amateur urban naturalists.

Registration is required.
